The challenge for this project was to design an LP for a chosen artist in 3 weeks. Big Black Delta is an electronic rock musician from Los Angeles who's sound is very reminiscent of 80's synth. His name comes from the term for the black triangle UFO's that have been seen and documented over the last few decades by UFO enthusiasts, so the imagery he uses for his albums is heavily space themed. I wanted to take his design into a new and fresh direction without completely abandoning his aesthetic. 

On the inside spread, I wanted to be playful with the typography. It didn't seem to fit the theme of the record to grid out the lyrics. Not only is the design alluding to being lost in space, but the lyrics are about loss and love. The solution was to play with the type tracking, and overlap all the lyrics in different directions to make them look and feel like they were just as lost and floating in space as the astronaut on the spread.
