We were given three weeks to design packaging and an advertising campaign for a gum concept that our instructor wrote on pieces of paper and handed out at random. My task was to design a gum that relieved menstrual cramps. With the recent boom of cannabis products on the market it didn't take long to find out that the plant had been used as a remedy for cramps for quite a long time. In fact, it's well known that Queen Victoria used it for hers and during child birth. With that information, the theme of my campaign became obvious.
I started with the packages, choosing a different color and Victorian pattern for each box based on strain of cannabis and flavor. The advertisement needed to have some humor, and after writing the copy I knew exactly what the design of the ad should look like.
I thought it would be fun to take the ad into After Effects and animate Victoria in the style of Monty Python for the tablet. It gives the campaign a little more dimension and fun.
